Refashion Hand-Me-Down Horror 12 - Pass the Dutch, baby

So here it is, it resisted the first attempt at being refashioned but that skirt soon rolled over and played nicely once I recut and started again.

I had myself worried at one point, would it look good?, had my initial estimation of this print been too favourable? perhaps I'd lost my touch? check it out doubters!! Nigerian dress skirt made cutesy Summer loveliness.

I used a Burdastyle pattern  http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/contour-bust-dress-and-tute  I have to admit, it is easy to sew yes, but my dress form, the pattern and I are all different bust sizes (hence the gaping back) so it took many runs to the mirror to check out the back before I finally got a good fit (on me and that's what I'm going for!)
I know I mentioned that the Hand-Me-Down Horrors are coming to an end but fear not folks, this has been as fun for me as I hope it has been for you, so whilst the inital month of HMDH's ends this Saturday, it will be a continuing series, (one of several) I'll be doing one a week and hopefully this will give me more time to produce some more tutorials to help refashion you.

Enjoy folks

Oops here's the details - Piped underbust seam, bias taped top, inverted pleats to front and back, all stash/repurposed.

emmalemma, I started this blog because I never finished anything, it's really forcing me to solider through problems and keep going until it's good enough to show you guys. Just keep going until you're happy to wear it!

Kanawinkie, you're so sweet and this one was not easy, it's always the easiest projects that give you the most jip!

If anyone reading this is scared of sewing with prints because you worry about matching seams, go for something crazy then no-one will ever notice, that's exactly what I do!

This totally looks like something I'd lust after from Anthropologie! I wish I had the time to sew for myself.
