I am not one of lifes medal winners, I have no trophies or medals from my school years, I was definitely more of a bookworm than an athlete let's say, if my Mum had been willing I would totally have been the kid that faked the broken arm in a cast to get out of school sports day.
I'm a wheezy Asthmatic and back in the day I could turn sideways and the sun would shine through me. So when I came upon a grab bag of 11m of medal ribbons for 50c I snatched that sucker up and (inhaler in hand)
Well I got them home, spread them out on the floor, attached Gold milk bottle tops as medals, had a mock Olympics with just me, where I won all the trophies, threw them all up in the air, rolled around in them for a bit then figured I should probably find a use for them.
Now I'm obsessed with weaving, love, love, love it so I made this baby to put all my Crochet bits and bobs in. I love that it's recycled, my fave colours Red, White & Blue and the colour scheme got me feeling nostalgic for home with the Queens Jubilee rapidly approaching, so the lining has some Umbrellas on it too :)
Best bit is that I still have a stash of these ribbons, so off to find me some more craft ideas for using medal ribbons, any thoughts my lovelies?

Congrats on your medal ribbon find! Great idea to weave them! and how very jubilee-like of you!! I'm sure you'll find uses for the rest of the ribbons...hair accessories, napkin rings....Can't wait to see what you come up with!
love this project, such a clever use of ribbons and the final result is gorgeous!
hurray for bookworms!!! :)
I love that ribbon bag! You are so good at re-imagining stuff. I see interesting items at sales and thrift stores and think, "Gee, that's cool, but I don't know what I'd do with it."
Your craft project totally deserves to be craft of the day!
Awww thank you my lovelies, you guys are the best xoxoxo
This is SO clever! Love finding uses for stuff that might otherwise get thrown in the bin - B
