Vintage Button Flower Embroidery Hoop

Hope everyone had an amazing Christmas holiday and New Years too, since the big day I've been eating a whole lot (one of the perks of Pregnancy) and resting even harder than before, sleeping 3 hours in the afternoon definitely cuts into your crafting and blogging time. I have a scarily close 15 days until baby no. 2 is due and I'm expecting to go at least a week over so that gives me plenty of time to start and finish a quilt and a pair of curtains for the nursery I hope. Having a mini episode just thinking about the work involved and how that may cut into my sleep/eat cycle :)

With painted walls and nothing to hang on them, I got busy the other day with this easy peasy Embroidery Hoop which even those with little or no skills can rustle up in a couple of hours, and shock horror I've actually made something full size, it's a wopping 7 inches! ('That's what she said' just popped in to my head, blame that on the Office marathon we've had at home)

I had some Blue Aida I picked up a year or so ago at a thrift store which was perfect for this project, I didn't write out the word first as the holes made it super easy to work out where to go next and the great thing about using the Aida was that even my usual wonky stitching was at least uniform for once. My plan is to stitch the babies birth date, weight and name underneath the flowers to look like roots, but until I get to finish that up I think it looks pretty respectable as is.

So what's coming up? had totally expected to be able to add two more styles of sleeve to the Jus' sleeve it refashion series, that's now looking like something I'm going to need to pick up after baby is born and I have some time to myself (she says laughing hysterically), I do however have a tutorial to share on making the teeny tiny embroidery hoops from Milk Bottle caps. I was asked for this on Creating the Hive so apologies for anyone waiting on this.

For anyone clamouring for some very unflattering photos of me in my final weeks, no-one can quite believe how my stomach is able to hold itself up without scaffolding. Excuse the unfinished wall and flooring in this photo, using a part renovated house as backdrop is probably not in the Photography for Dummies handbook, as is not using hubby as Chief photog, unbelievably it took nearly 20 shots to get these, the one on the left he sliced off the top of my head, but cleverly this has reduced the size of my butt, who knew that it was my head making my butt look big Hmmmmmm. The one on the right it seemed imperative to get all fixtures and fittings in, bless him, the hubster shudders when I ask for his help with anything!

My lovely peeps, not sure when I'll be blogging in the lead up to the birth so will try to get on here at least once a week with something for you and my lovely new followers :)

You look beautiful! Good luck with everything.

I adore the hoop you made. Such a cute and simple idea. I may need to "leverage" it for an upcoming baby shower :).
